Amish Cinnamon Bread: A Delightful Recipe

January 9, 2025 by el hassan Leave a Comment

This Amish cinnamon bread is a sweet, moist, and flavorful treat that requires no yeast! Swirled with cinnamon and sugar, this quick bread is perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert. With its soft texture and irresistible aroma, it’s a family favorite you’ll want to make again and again.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups buttermilk (or 2 cups milk + 2 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice)
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for the cinnamon swirl)
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9×5-inch loaf pans.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 2 cups of sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, then stir in the buttermilk.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. Prepare the Cinnamon Swirl: In a small bowl, mix the 1/2 cup of sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Layer the Batter: Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pans. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the batter. Add the remaining batter on top and finish with the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture. Swirl gently with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and Serve: Let the bread cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Slice and enjoy!

Tips for Perfect Amish Cinnamon Bread

  • Use Room-Temperature Ingredients: Softened butter and room-temperature eggs mix more easily for a smooth batter.
  • Don’t Overmix: Mix just until combined to keep the bread tender.
  • Add a Glaze: Drizzle with a simple powdered sugar glaze for extra sweetness.
  • Freeze for Later: Wrap cooled bread tightly in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 3 months.
