Apple Fritter Bites

January 10, 2025 by el hassan Leave a Comment

Apple fritter bites are sweet, crispy, and filled with tender apple chunks. These bite-sized treats are deep-fried to golden perfection and coated in a sweet glaze, making them irresistible for breakfast, dessert, or a midday snack.

Ingredients

For the Fritter Batter:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup diced apples (peeled and chopped into small pieces)

For Frying:

  • Vegetable oil, for frying

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Make the Batter:
    • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
    • In a separate bowl, mix the milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
    • Fold in the diced apples.
  2. Heat the Oil:
    • Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Fry the Fritter Bites:
    • Using a spoon or small cookie scoop, drop small portions of batter into the hot oil. Fry in batches, turning occasionally, for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
    • Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  4. Make the Glaze:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Glaze the Fritters:
    • Dip the warm fritter bites into the glaze or drizzle it over the top. Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes before serving.
  6. Serve: Enjoy warm for the best texture and flavor!

Tips for Perfect Apple Fritter Bites

  • Use Firm Apples: Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples hold up well during frying.
  • Don’t Overmix: Stir the batter until just combined to keep the fritters light and fluffy.
  • Check Oil Temperature: Use a thermometer to maintain 350°F for evenly cooked fritters.
  • Add Spice: Mix a pinch of nutmeg or allspice into the batter for extra warmth.
