There’s something magical about the smell of apples and cinnamon baking in the oven — it immediately makes any house feel like a home. Today, we’re bringing you a delightful twist on a classic treat: Baked Apple Fritters.
Forget the deep fryer — these fritters are soft, fluffy, packed with juicy apple chunks, and kissed with just the right amount of spice, without the extra oil.
Perfect for breakfast, brunch, dessert, or just a cozy afternoon snack, these fritters are a healthier version of your favorite bakery treat — but just as delicious!

Whether you’re enjoying them fresh from the oven or sneaking a bite later with a cup of coffee, these baked apple fritters are sure to steal the show.

Ingredients (All measured in grams)

For the fritters:

  • 200g all-purpose flour
  • 100g granulated sugar
  • 8g baking powder (about 2 teaspoons)
  • 2g salt (about ½ teaspoon)
  • 3g ground cinnamon (about 1 teaspoon)
  • 1g ground nutmeg (about ¼ teaspoon)
  • 120g milk
  • 50g unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg (about 50g)
  • 5g pure vanilla extract (about 1 teaspoon)
  • 200g apples (peeled, cored, and diced — about 1-2 medium apples)

For the glaze:

  • 150g powdered sugar
  • 30g milk (plus more if needed)
  • 3g vanilla extract (about ½ teaspoon)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare:
Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients:
In another bowl, whisk the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Combine:
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold together until just combined. Do not overmix — a few lumps are okay!
  5. Add Apples:
Fold the diced apples into the batter gently, making sure they are evenly distributed.
  6. Scoop Fritters:
Using a large spoon or cookie scoop, drop mounds of batter onto your prepared baking sheet. Leave some space between each fritter, as they will expand slightly.
  7. Bake:
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the fritters are puffed, golden, and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Make the Glaze:
While the fritters bake, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  9. Glaze the Fritters:
Let the fritters cool slightly (about 5 minutes), then drizzle the glaze generously over the warm fritters.
  10. Serve and Enjoy:
Best enjoyed warm, fresh out of the oven, with a cup of tea or coffee!

Tips and Tricks for Perfect Baked Apple Fritters

  • Use crisp apples: Varieties like Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Fuji work beautifully — they hold their shape and add a sweet-tart flavor.
  • Don’t overmix the batter: Overmixing will make the fritters tough instead of tender.
  • Glaze while warm: Applying the glaze when the fritters are slightly warm helps it soak in just a bit, adding sweetness without making them soggy.
  • Add extra flavor: Sprinkle some cinnamon sugar over the glaze for an extra cozy touch.
  • Make them mini: Use a smaller scoop for bite-sized fritters — perfect for parties!

A Little Extra From Me: ????????

Did you know?
The word “fritter” comes from the Latin word frictura, meaning “fried food.” But these days, not all fritters need to be fried!
Baking gives us that same beloved texture and flavor without the heavy oiliness.
Plus, baked apple fritters make a wonderful project to do with kids — they’ll love helping to mix the batter and, of course, drizzling on the glaze.

Serving idea:
Serve your baked apple fritters warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an easy, show-stopping dessert!
Or simply dust them with powdered sugar for a more traditional finish.

Storage tip:
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to 5 days. Reheat in the microwave for about 10 seconds before eating to bring back that fresh-baked softness!
