Why You’ll Love This Recipe

If you’re looking for an easy, cheesy, and delicious appetizer that’s perfect for parties, game nights, or holiday gatherings, these Baked Ham and Cheese Pinwheels are a must-try!

These golden, flaky pinwheels are made with buttery puff pastry (or crescent roll dough), savory ham, and melty cheese, all rolled up and baked to perfection. A homemade honey mustard glaze adds the perfect sweet and tangy finish.

Whether you serve them as a party snack, lunch, or even a quick dinner, these ham and cheese pinwheels are always a hit!

Ingredients

For the Pinwheels:

  • 1 sheet (275g) puff pastry, thawed (or crescent roll dough)
  • 150g (6-8 slices) deli ham
  • 120g (1 cup) shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or mozzarella work best!)
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

For the Honey Mustard Glaze:

  • 30g (2 tbsp) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • *1/2 tsp poppy seeds (optional, for extra crunch!)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry (or crescent roll dough) on a lightly floured surface.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the Dijon mustard and mayonnaise. Spread this mixture evenly over the pastry.

Step 2: Add the Fillings

  1. Layer the ham slices evenly over the pastry.
  2. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.

Step 3: Roll and Slice

  1. Carefully roll the dough into a tight log (starting from the longer side).
  2. Use a sharp knife to cut the roll into 12 even slices.
  3. Place the slices flat on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 4: Prepare the Glaze

  1. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, honey, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and poppy seeds.
  2. Brush the glaze generously over each pinwheel.

Step 5: Bake to Perfection

  1. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the pinwheels are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  2. Let cool slightly before serving.
