Banana Bread Brownies

These Banana Bread Brownies are the ultimate combination of moist banana bread and rich, fudgy brownies! With a buttery brown sugar glaze, they’re soft, flavorful, and incredibly indulgent. Whether you need a sweet treat for breakfast, dessert, or a snack, these brownies are sure to impress!


Ingredients (Makes 12-16 squares)

For the Banana Brownies:

  • 2 large ripe bananas (about 240g), mashed
  • 100g (½ cup) unsalted butter, melted
  • 150g (¾ cup) granulated sugar
  • 100g (½ cup) brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 200g (1½ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 120ml (½ cup) milk
  • 100g (½ cup) chocolate chips (optional, but highly recommended!)

For the Brown Sugar Glaze:

  • 50g (¼ cup) unsalted butter
  • 100g (½ cup) brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 60g (½ cup) powdered sugar

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Banana Brownies

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease or line a 9×9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together mashed bananas, melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, alternating with milk, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips (if using).
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Step 2: Make the Brown Sugar Glaze

  1. In a small saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat.
  2. Stir in milk and vanilla extract, letting the mixture come to a slight boil.
  3. Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar until smooth.

Step 3: Assemble & Serve

  1. Once the banana brownies are baked, let them cool for 5 minutes before pouring the warm glaze over the top.
  2. Let the glaze set for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
  3. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
