Ingredients
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup golden brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped

Instructions
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter. Use an electric hand mixer to mix on medium-low speed for 1 minute. Add vanilla extract and eggs, and mix on medium speed until combined.
- Mash and Add Bananas: Mash the ripe bananas in a separate bowl and stir them into the wet mixture.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Sift the flour, baking soda, and salt into the wet mixture. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Fold in Add-Ins: Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts using a spatula.
- Prepare Muffin Tin: Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners and fill each liner to the top with batter. You should get 12–13 muffins. Top with additional chocolate chips if desired.
- Bake: Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20–24 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
Notes
- Sift Dry Ingredients: This ensures a smooth batter and prevents clumps of flour in the muffins.
- Ripen Bananas Quickly: Place unripe bananas on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 15 minutes. Let them cool before mashing.
- Use Liners: Muffin liners make cleanup easier and prevent sticking, especially with melty chocolate.
- Extra Chocolate Chips: Sprinkle additional chocolate chips on top for a bakery-style look and extra chocolaty goodness.
