Bang Bang Chicken

April 20, 2025 by el hassan Leave a Comment

Crispy. Spicy. Sweet. Creamy. Everything You Love in One Bite.

If you’ve never had Bang Bang Chicken, prepare yourself — because this dish is next-level. Originally made popular by Asian-fusion restaurants, it combines tender, crispy chicken bites with a sweet, spicy, and creamy sauce that hits all the best flavor notes: savory, tangy, zesty, and totally irresistible.

It’s perfect as an appetizer, game-day snack, or served over rice or noodles for a full-on flavor explosion. And the best part? It’s super easy to make at home, and way better than takeout.

Let’s get into the crunch, the cream, and the bang. ????

???? Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Chicken

  • 500g boneless, skinless chicken breast (or thighs), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 100g cornstarch
  • 100g all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs (about 100g), beaten
  • 5g garlic powder (1 tsp)
  • 5g onion powder (1 tsp)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 250ml vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Bang Bang Sauce

  • 100g mayonnaise
  • 50g sweet chili sauce
  • 15g Sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 10g honey (optional, for a sweeter touch)
  • 5g rice vinegar or lemon juice (1 tsp)

For Garnish (Optional)

  • 10g chopped green onions
  • 5g sesame seeds
  • Fresh cilantro or a squeeze of lime for brightness

???? Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Chicken

  1. Season chicken pieces with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Set up a breading station: one bowl of flour, one bowl with beaten eggs, and one bowl of cornstarch.
  3. Dredge each chicken piece in flour → egg → cornstarch. Press to coat evenly for that ultra-crispy shell.

Step 2: Fry It Up

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 175°C (350°F).
  2. Fry chicken in batches (don’t overcrowd) for 4–5 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

Step 3: Make the Bang Bang Sauce

  1. In a bowl, whisk together mayo, sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, honey, and vinegar or lemon juice.
  2. Taste and adjust the heat or sweetness to your liking.

Step 4: Toss and Serve

  1. Gently toss the crispy chicken in the sauce, or drizzle it on top if you want to keep the crunch.
  2. Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, or cilantro.

???? Tips & Tricks

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan — it drops the oil temperature and makes chicken soggy.
  • Air fryer option: Spray breaded chicken with oil and cook at 200°C (390°F) for 14–16 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Keep sauce separate if you’re meal prepping — this keeps the chicken crispy for longer.
  • Want more heat? Add extra Sriracha or crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Make it a meal: Serve over jasmine rice, rice noodles, or in lettuce wraps with shredded cabbage.

????️ From My Kitchen to Yours

Bang Bang Chicken is one of those rare dishes that’s as fun to make as it is to eat. The crunch, the sauce, the heat — it’s got it all. What I love about this recipe is how quickly it comes together and how crowd-pleasing it is. It’s a total party dish, but also the kind of thing I’d whip up on a random Tuesday night just because.

If you’re looking for something that wows without a ton of effort, this is your go-to. Your readers will love the flavor punch and versatility — snack, dinner, or next-day leftovers (if there are any!).
