  • Soy sauce (low sodium) – 60ml (¼ cup)
  • Oyster sauce – 2 tbsp (30ml)
  • Dark soy sauce (for color and depth) – 1 tbsp (15ml)
  • Brown sugar – 1 tbsp (12g)
  • Rice vinegar – 1 tbsp (15ml)
  • Garlic – 3 cloves (9g), finely minced
  • Ginger – 1 tsp (5g), freshly grated
  • Cornstarch – 2 tsp, mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
  • Water or beef broth – 120ml (½ cup)
  • Toasted sesame oil – 1 tsp (5ml)
  • Cracked black pepper – ½ tsp, to taste
  • Optional chili flakes or sriracha – for heat

  1. Combine the Sauce Base
    In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, water or broth, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Cook with Stir Fry
    • Once your beef is seared and broccoli is nearly tender, pour the sauce into the pan.
    • Stir well to coat everything evenly.
  3. Thicken It Up
    • Add the cornstarch slurry and stir constantly over medium-high heat for 1–2 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
  4. Finish
    • Stir in toasted sesame oil and a few cracks of black pepper for extra depth.
