Best French Toast Ever

January 15, 2025 by el hassan Leave a Comment

Description: This easy, classic French toast recipe delivers a golden, crispy exterior with a soft, custardy interior, making it the Best French Toast Ever! Ready in under 20 minutes, it’s perfect for a quick breakfast or a delightful snack. With simple ingredients like eggs, milk, sugar, and cinnamon, you can easily make this dish with pantry staples. Customize it with your favorite toppings, like powdered sugar, fresh berries, chocolate chips, or maple syrup, and you’re set for a delicious treat that the whole family will love!

Ingredients:

  • 4 large eggs (at room temperature)
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 12 slices of bread (Brioche, Challah, or French Baguette are ideal, but any bread will work)
  • Butter (for cooking)
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar, maple syrup, fresh berries, chocolate chips, chopped almonds, or jam

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth and fully combined.
  2. Preheat the Skillet: Heat a griddle or large skillet over medium heat and add a little butter to coat the surface.
  3. Soak the Bread: Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, letting it soak for a few seconds. Flip the bread and soak the other side.
  4. Cook the French Toast: Place the soaked bread slices onto the preheated skillet. Cook for about 2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crisp. Repeat with the remaining bread slices, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.
  5. Serve: Transfer the cooked French toast to a plate and serve warm. Top with your favorite toppings like maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries, or a sprinkle of chopped nuts.

Cooking Tips:

  • Bread Choice: Brioche, challah, or French baguette are the best options, but you can use any bread you have. Thicker slices work best for soaking up the custard mixture.
  • Heat Control: Cook French toast over medium heat to ensure it gets golden brown on the outside without being raw on the inside.
  • Customize the Sweetness: Adjust the sugar to your taste—more sugar for a sweeter toast or less for a more subtle flavor.
  • Make Ahead: You can prepare the egg mixture the night before for an even quicker breakfast.
