Biscuits and Sausage Gravy Breakfast Pizza – A Southern Comfort Classic!

This Biscuits and Sausage Gravy Breakfast Pizza is the ultimate comfort food, perfect for weekend brunches, family gatherings, or an indulgent start to the day.


Ingredients:

For the Pizza Crust:

  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (or homemade biscuit dough)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for brushing)

For the Sausage Gravy:

  • 1/2 pound breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

For the Toppings:

  • 4 large eggs, scrambled
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup cooked crumbled bacon (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (optional for garnish)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Crust

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a pizza pan or baking sheet.
  2. Flatten and press the biscuit dough onto the pan, pinching the edges together to form a pizza crust.
  3. Brush the top with melted butter and prebake for 8-10 minutes, until slightly golden.

Step 2: Make the Sausage Gravy

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage, breaking it into crumbles, until browned.
  2. Add butter and stir until melted. Sprinkle in flour, stirring constantly for 1 minute to form a roux.
  3. Slowly whisk in milk, stirring continuously, and cook until thickened (about 3-5 minutes).
  4. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Remove from heat.

Step 3: Scramble the Eggs

  1. In a separate pan, cook scrambled eggs to a soft consistency (they’ll finish cooking in the oven). Set aside.

Step 4: Assemble the Pizza

  1. Spread the sausage gravy evenly over the prebaked biscuit crust.
  2. Add scrambled eggs on top of the gravy.
  3. Sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella cheese evenly over the pizza.
  4. Add crumbled bacon if using.

Step 5: Bake the Pizza

  • Return to the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 6: Garnish and Serve

  • Sprinkle with chopped green onions for extra flavor.
  • Slice and serve hot for a delicious breakfast treat!
