Boursin Orzo with Chicken

This Boursin Orzo with Chicken is a creamy, dreamy, and ultra-comforting dish made with tender chicken, velvety Boursin cheese, and perfectly cooked orzo. It’s rich, garlicky, and packed with flavor, yet comes together quickly in one pot—perfect for busy weeknights! Serve it as a hearty main dish or a luxurious side for a restaurant-quality meal at home.


Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Chicken:

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (450g), cubed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Orzo:

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 250g (1 ¼ cups) orzo pasta
  • 720ml (3 cups) chicken broth
  • ½ teaspoon salt (adjust as needed)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 150g (5.3 oz) Boursin Garlic & Herb cheese
  • 60ml (¼ cup) heavy cream
  • 50g (½ cup) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 100g (3.5 oz) baby spinach (optional, for extra greens)
  • Fresh parsley or basil, for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Chicken

  1. Season the cubed chicken with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Step 2: Toast the Orzo

  1. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the orzo, toasting it for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.

Step 3: Simmer the Orzo

  1. Pour in the chicken broth, salt, and pepper, stirring to combine.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer, then cover and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is tender and the broth is mostly absorbed.

Step 4: Make it Creamy

  1. Lower the heat and stir in the Boursin cheese, heavy cream, and Parmesan until smooth.
  2. Add the cooked chicken back to the pan, stirring to coat in the creamy sauce.
  3. If using, fold in the baby spinach until wilted.

Step 5: Serve & Garnish

  1. Remove from heat and let sit for 2 minutes to thicken.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil and serve warm!
