Crunchy pretzels coated in a rich, buttery toffee make this Butter Toffee Pretzels recipe an irresistible sweet and salty treat! Perfect for snacking, gifting, or holiday gatherings, these toffee pretzels are quick and easy to make with just a handful of ingredients.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups mini pretzel twists
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda (optional for a lighter texture)
  • Optional: Sea salt flakes for garnish

These buttery, caramelized pretzels deliver the perfect crunch with every bite!


Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Baking Sheet:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

2️⃣ Make the Toffee Mixture:

  • In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and stir constantly until the mixture begins to bubble.
  • Once bubbling, allow the mixture to cook for 3-4 minutes without stirring to thicken.

3️⃣ Add Vanilla and Baking Soda:

  • Remove the saucepan from heat. Carefully stir in vanilla extract and baking soda (if using). The mixture will foam up slightly—this creates a light texture in the toffee.

4️⃣ Coat the Pretzels:

  • Place the pretzels in a large mixing bowl. Pour the hot toffee mixture over the pretzels and toss to coat evenly.

5️⃣ Bake:

  • Spread the coated pretzels in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, stirring halfway through to ensure even caramelization.

6️⃣ Cool and Serve:

  • Remove from the oven and, if desired, sprinkle with sea salt flakes. Let the pretzels cool completely on the baking sheet. Once hardened, break apart any clumps and serve.
