A Flavor-Packed One-Pan Meal

If you’re looking for a hearty, budget-friendly, and comforting meal, this Cabbage Beef Bake is a must-try!

Combining tender cabbage, seasoned ground beef, tomatoes, and cheese, this easy-to-make casserole is packed with flavor and nutrients. It’s a perfect weeknight dinner that the whole family will love, and it’s also great for meal prep!

The best part? This one-pan dish is not only delicious but also low-carb and loaded with protein.


Ingredients

For the Beef Mixture:

  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion (100g), diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional for spice)

For the Cabbage Layer:

  • ½ medium head of cabbage (500g), chopped
  • 1 can (400g) diced tomatoes, with juice
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • ½ cup (120ml) beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

For the Cheesy Topping:

  • 100g shredded cheddar cheese
  • 50g shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Beef Mixture

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  3. Add diced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  4. Add ground beef, breaking it apart as it browns.
  5. Stir in garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, oregano, and chili flakes. Cook for 5-7 minutes until fully browned.

Step 2: Prepare the Cabbage Layer

  1. Stir in the chopped cabbage, mixing well with the beef.
  2. Add diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth.
  3. Cover and let it simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 3: Bake the Casserole

  1. Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
  3. Bake for 20 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

Step 4: Serve & Enjoy!

  • Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm!
