Description

When you crave the classic taste of caramel apples but want a treat that’s easier to make and eat, this Caramel Apple Bark is the perfect solution! It combines crisp dried apples, creamy caramel, and rich chocolate in an irresistibly crunchy and chewy bark. No sticks, no mess—just bite-sized caramel apple bliss!

This no-bake dessert is perfect for fall gatherings, Halloween parties, or a sweet homemade gift. It’s super customizable with fun toppings like chopped nuts, pretzels, white chocolate drizzle, or even a sprinkle of sea salt. Whether you’re making this with the kids or prepping a last-minute dessert tray, caramel apple bark is quick, delicious, and absolutely addictive.

Ingredients

(Makes about 20 pieces)

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or dark chocolate chips)
  • 1 cup dried apple slices, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup soft caramels (about 12–14 caramels), unwrapped
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon white chocolate chips (optional, for drizzle)
  • Flaky sea salt (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep a baking sheet:
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Melt the chocolate:
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth (about 1.5 minutes total).
    • Pour and spread the melted chocolate into a 1/4-inch thick layer on the lined baking sheet.
  3. Add the apples:
    • Immediately sprinkle the chopped dried apple pieces evenly over the chocolate. Press gently to help them stick.
  4. Melt the caramel:
    • In another microwave-safe bowl, combine caramels and heavy cream. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and pourable (about 1 minute total).
    • Drizzle caramel over the chocolate and apple layer using a spoon or piping bag.
  5. Add toppings:
    • Sprinkle with chopped nuts, a drizzle of melted white chocolate, and a pinch of flaky sea salt if desired.
  6. Set the bark:
    • Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 30–45 minutes, or until fully set.
  7. Break and serve:
    • Once firm, break the bark into pieces using your hands or a sharp knife. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge.

Tips & Tricks

  • Use quality chocolate for best results. Dark, milk, or even white chocolate all work.
  • Don’t skip the cream—it helps make the caramel smooth and drizzle-able.
  • Add crunch: Chopped pretzels, granola, or pumpkin seeds add great texture.
  • Go festive: Use red and green apple chips for holiday vibes, or sprinkle with Halloween candy for October fun.
  • Make ahead: This bark stores well for up to a week in a sealed container.
