Cheesy Parmesan Mozzarella Bites

July 9, 2025 by [email protected] Leave a Comment

These Cheesy Parmesan Mozzarella Bites are everything you want in a snack—crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, and bursting with savory cheesy flavor. Perfect as a party appetizer, movie-night snack, or game-day finger food, these bites are always a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

  • 200g mozzarella cheese, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional, for a bit of kick)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the breading station: Set up three shallow bowls—one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mix of breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, pepper, and paprika.
  2. Coat the cheese: Dip each mozzarella cube first into the flour, then into the egg, and finally into the breadcrumb-Parmesan mixture. For extra crunch, repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps.
  3. Freeze the bites: Place the coated bites on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes to prevent melting during frying.
  4. Fry until golden: Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry the cheese bites in batches for about 1–2 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve hot: Serve with marinara sauce, ranch, or your favorite dip.

Tips

  • Double coat for extra crunch. Doing two rounds of egg and breadcrumbs helps form a thicker, crispier crust.
  • Freeze before frying. This is essential to keep the cheese from oozing out in the oil.
  • Use a thermometer. Keep the oil temperature steady at around 350°F for even frying.
  • Drain well. Place the bites on a paper towel-lined plate right after frying to absorb excess oil.

Variations and Substitutions

  • Cheese swaps: Try cheddar, provolone, or a mix of your favorite cheeses.
  • Baking option: Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 10–12 minutes for a lighter version. Spray with oil for browning.
  • Air fryer: Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Add herbs: Mix dried basil, oregano, or parsley into the breadcrumb coating for extra flavor.

FAQs

Can I make these ahead of time?
Yes! Freeze them after breading and keep them in a sealed container for up to a month. Fry straight from frozen.

Can I use string cheese?
Yes, just cut each stick into 2 or 3 pieces and proceed with breading.

How do I prevent cheese from leaking during frying?
Freeze thoroughly and double coat to seal the cheese in.

Can I reheat leftovers?
Yes. Reheat in an air fryer or oven at 375°F (190°C) until crispy again.
