Chicken and Dressing Casserole

December 27, 2024 by el hassan Leave a Comment

Chicken and Dressing Casserole is a comforting, Southern-inspired dish that’s hearty, flavorful, and perfect for family dinners. This creamy casserole combines tender shredded chicken, a savory stuffing mix, and a creamy sauce, all baked to golden perfection. It’s a quick and easy recipe that tastes like it’s been cooking all day!

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups cooked and shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken works great)
  • 1 box (6 oz) stuffing mix (such as Stove Top)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the Stuffing: In a medium bowl, mix the stuffing mix with melted butter and 1/2 cup of chicken broth. Set aside to let the stuffing absorb the liquid.
  3. Make the Creamy Mixture: In another bowl, combine the cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, garlic powder, poultry seasoning, and the remaining chicken broth. Mix until smooth.
  4. Assemble the Casserole: Spread the shredded chicken evenly in the prepared baking dish. Season with salt and pepper if desired. Pour the creamy soup mixture over the chicken, spreading it evenly. Top with the prepared stuffing mixture.
  5. Bake: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the stuffing is golden and the casserole is bubbling.
  6. Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm. Pair it with a side salad or green beans for a complete meal.
