Chicken Parmesan Calzone

December 18, 2024 by el hassan Leave a Comment

This Chicken Parmesan Calzone is packed with crispy chicken, gooey mozzarella, and rich pizza sauce, all wrapped in a golden pizza dough crust. Perfect for a family dinner or game day treat!

Ingredients

  • 16–20 oz pizza dough
  • 6–7 fully cooked crispy chicken tenders, sliced (such as Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips)
  • 8 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¾ cup pizza sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Flour (for rolling out dough)

Instructions

1. Preheat and Prep:

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • If using frozen chicken tenders, bake them according to the package instructions. Slice into smaller strips and set aside.

2. Roll Out the Dough:

  • Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle, like a pizza crust.

3. Assemble the Calzone:

  • Spread ½ cup of pizza sauce over one half of the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edge.
  • Layer 1 cup of shredded mozzarella, all the Parmesan, and the sliced chicken tenders on top of the sauce.

4. Fold and Seal:

  • Fold the other half of the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape.
  • Press and pinch the edges together to seal tightly.

5. Bake the Calzone:

  • Place the calzone on a greased baking sheet. Brush the top with melted butter and use a knife to cut three ½-inch slits in the top for ventilation.
  • Bake for 20 minutes.

6. Add Topping:

  • Remove the calzone from the oven. Spread ¼ cup of pizza sauce and sprinkle ½ cup of shredded mozzarella over the top, leaving a 1-inch border.
  • Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

7. Cool and Serve:

  • Let the calzone cool for 5–7 minutes, then slice into strips for serving.
