Why You’ll Love This Recipe

When the holiday season arrives, there’s nothing better than easy, festive treats that bring joy to your kitchen. These Christmas Cookie Bars are the perfect combination of chewy, soft, buttery cookie dough filled with red and green M&M’s, white chocolate chips, and holiday sprinkles.

The best part? Unlike traditional cookies, these bars require no chilling or rolling—just mix, spread, and bake! They’re great for holiday parties, cookie exchanges, or gifting to loved ones.

If you love Christmas cookies but want a quick, crowd-pleasing alternative, these Christmas Cookie Bars will be your new favorite go-to recipe!

Ingredients

For the Cookie Bars:

  • 250g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 170g (3/4 cup) unsalted butter, melted
  • 150g (3/4 cup) brown sugar, packed
  • 100g (1/2 cup) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk (room temperature, for extra chewiness!)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 100g (1/2 cup) red and green M&M’s
  • 80g (1/2 cup) white chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp (30g) holiday sprinkles (optional, for extra festive flair!)

For the Topping:

  • Extra M&M’s and white chocolate chips (for decorating before baking!)
  • Extra sprinkles

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cookie Dough

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Line a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  4. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract and mix until fully combined.

Step 2: Mix in the Add-Ins

  1. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined—do not overmix!
  2. Fold in the M&M’s, white chocolate chips, and sprinkles.

Step 3: Bake the Cookie Bars

  1. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  2. Press extra M&M’s and white chocolate chips on top for a festive look.
  3. Bake for 22-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center looks slightly set.
  4. Allow the bars to cool completely before slicing into squares.

Tips & Tricks for the Best Christmas Cookie Bars

✨ Use room temperature eggs – This ensures a smooth and even cookie dough texture.

✨ Don’t overbake! – The bars will continue to set after being removed from the oven. A slightly underbaked center keeps them chewy.

✨ Customize the mix-ins – Try dark chocolate, crushed peppermint, or even chopped nuts for extra crunch!

✨ Make ahead & store – These bars stay fresh for up to 5 days in an airtight container or can be frozen for up to 3 months.
