Cinnamon Swirl French Toast Bites

May 26, 2025 by el hassan Leave a Comment

When breakfast feels boring or rushed, it’s time to elevate your morning with these Cinnamon Swirl French Toast Bites — a dreamy, bite-sized twist on a brunch favorite! Imagine soft, fluffy cubes of bread soaked in a rich cinnamon-vanilla custard, pan-fried to golden perfection, and dusted with cinnamon sugar. Every bite is like the cozy center of a cinnamon roll wrapped in the comfort of French toast.

Perfect for weekend mornings, special breakfasts, or even a sweet mid-day snack, these little bites are kid-friendly, adult-approved, and totally irresistible. Serve them with a drizzle of maple syrup or a dollop of whipped cream and watch them disappear fast!

???? Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the French Toast Bites:

  • 1 loaf brioche or challah bread, cut into 1-inch cubes (about 6–7 cups)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for frying)

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

????‍???? Instructions

1. Prep the Bread

Cut your bread into 1-inch cubes and let it sit out for 15–30 minutes to slightly dry (this helps it soak up more custard without getting soggy).

2. Make the Custard

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla until smooth.

3. Soak the Bread

Gently toss the bread cubes into the custard mixture, stirring to make sure each piece is well coated. Let it sit for about 5 minutes so the bread absorbs the mixture.

4. Fry to Perfection

In a large nonstick skillet or griddle, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the soaked bread cubes in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown on all sides. Work in batches and add more butter as needed.

5. Toss in Cinnamon Sugar

While still warm, toss the French toast bites in a bowl with the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat. For best results, do this in small batches so each piece gets evenly coated.

6. Serve

Serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, whipped cream, or even cream cheese glaze for a cinnamon roll vibe.

???? Tips & Tricks

  • Best bread: Brioche and challah are top picks for richness, but French bread or Texas toast works too.
  • Make it ahead: Cube and dry your bread the night before for faster prep in the morning.
  • Add-ins: Try mini chocolate chips or chopped pecans mixed into the custard for extra decadence.
  • Serving idea: Turn this into a fun brunch board with syrup, fruit, whipped cream, and dips!
  • Kid-friendly: Serve on toothpicks or skewers for easy dipping and eating.

✨ My Personal Touch

These Cinnamon Swirl French Toast Bites are more than a recipe—they’re a warm hug on a plate. I created them for those lazy Sunday mornings when you want something comforting but also fun to eat. They’re especially great for brunch parties or little hands that love finger foods. I sometimes serve them with a quick homemade cream cheese glaze to mimic a cinnamon roll — pure magic!
