For the Crispy Chicken:

  • 500g boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 100g cornstarch
  • 100g all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (for extra flavor)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 500ml vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 100ml honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons water (for thickening the sauce)

For Garnish:

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken Coating

  1. In a bowl, whisk together cornstarch, flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs.
  3. Dip each chicken piece into the egg mixture, then coat evenly with the flour mixture.
  4. Place the coated chicken on a plate and let it sit for 5-10 minutes (this helps the coating stick better).
