Doritos Taco Salad Recipe

December 19, 2024 by el hassan Leave a Comment

A bold and flavorful taco salad made with seasoned beef, crunchy Doritos, and your favorite toppings. Perfect for weeknight dinners or potluck gatherings!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 package taco seasoning mix
  • 1 head iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 bag (9.75 oz) Doritos, any flavor (Nacho Cheese recommended)
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Optional garnishes: sliced black olives, jalapeños, chopped cilantro

Instructions

1. Cook the Beef:

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked.
  2. Drain any excess fat and add the taco seasoning along with the recommended amount of water (typically about 2/3 cup).
  3. Simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

2. Prepare the Salad Base:

  1. In a large salad bowl, combine the chopped lettuce, cherry tomatoes, diced bell pepper, and chopped red onion.
  2. Add the drained black beans and toss to mix.

3. Assemble the Salad:

  1. Once the taco meat has cooled slightly, add it to the salad bowl.
  2. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the salad.
  3. Crush the Doritos into bite-sized pieces and add them to the mix.

4. Add the Dressings and Serve:

  1. Just before serving, add the salsa and sour cream to the salad. Toss until evenly coated.
  2. Garnish with optional toppings like sliced olives, jalapeños, and cilantro for added flavor.

5. Serve Immediately:

Enjoy the salad fresh so the Doritos stay crisp and crunchy!

Tips

  • Make It Lighter: Substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef, or use a plant-based ground meat alternative.
  • Customize It: Add other ingredients like corn, avocado, or diced cucumbers for extra variety.
  • Serving Size: This recipe serves 6–8 people as a main dish or more as a side.
