Easy Sugar Cookie Recipe

January 5, 2025 by el hassan Leave a Comment

Soft, buttery, and perfectly sweet! This Easy Sugar Cookie Recipe is your go-to for a quick and delicious treat. Perfect for rolling, cutting, or decorating, these cookies hold their shape and taste amazing with or without frosting. Great for holidays or any day!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

A buttery dough creates soft, melt-in-your-mouth cookies with just the right amount of sweetness.

Instructions

  1. Cream Butter and Sugar:
In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add Egg and Vanilla:
Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Chill Dough:
Divide dough in half, shape into disks, and wrap in plastic. Chill for at least 1 hour.
  5. Roll and Cut:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out dough on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters and place on a lined baking sheet.
  6. Bake:
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely before decorating.
