How to Make Garlic Butter Mushrooms and Onions

Step 1: Sauté the Onions

  1. Heat 1 tbsp butter and 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and caramelized (about 8 minutes).

Step 2: Cook the Mushrooms

  1. Add the sliced mushrooms, season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  2. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until mushrooms release their moisture and start browning.

Step 3: Add Garlic & Wine

  1. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  2. Pour in the white wine and simmer for 2-3 minutes, letting the alcohol cook off.
  3. Stir in the remaining 1 tbsp butter and fresh thyme.
