These breadsticks come together quickly, especially if you use store-bought pizza dough, but making your own is also easy and adds a homemade touch. Ingredients

(Makes about 12 breadsticks)

For the Dough (or use 1 lb store-bought pizza dough):

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Topping:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the dough (skip if using pre-made):
    • In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
    • Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix and knead for 6–8 minutes until smooth.
    • Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  2. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  3. Roll out the dough:
    • Roll dough into a rectangle about 9×13 inches. Transfer to prepared baking sheet.
  4. Add garlic butter and cheese:
    • Mix melted butter with minced garlic and brush over the dough.
    • Sprinkle evenly with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
  5. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly and edges are golden brown.
  6. Slice into breadsticks:
    • Let cool slightly, then slice into 1-inch strips. Garnish with parsley if desired.
