Honey Glazed Salmon

With a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and garlicky notes, this salmon is pan-seared until golden, then finished with a sticky honey glaze that caramelizes beautifully.

Ready in just 20 minutes, this dish is ideal for busy weeknights, yet elegant enough for guests. It pairs beautifully with rice, quinoa, roasted veggies, or a fresh salad — and the glaze is so irresistible, you’ll want to drizzle it on everything.

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 150 g each, skin-on or skinless)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or unsalted butter

For the Honey Glaze:

  • 60 g (¼ cup) honey
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice (or lime)
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ tsp grated fresh ginger (optional, but recommended)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (optional, for a thicker glaze)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional, for extra aroma)

Garnish (Optional):

  • Chopped spring onions
  • Toasted sesame seeds
  • Lemon slices

Step 1: Prepare the Glaze

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, garlic, and ginger. Set aside.
  2. If you prefer a thicker glaze, mix cornstarch with water in a separate small bowl to make a slurry.

Step 2: Cook the Salmon

  1. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Place salmon fillets skin-side down (if using skin-on) and sear for 4–5 minutes, until golden and mostly cooked through.
  4. Flip and cook another 2–3 minutes until done (internal temp should reach 63°C / 145°F).

Step 3: Add the Glaze

  1. Reduce heat to low and pour the glaze over the salmon.
  2. Let it bubble and reduce for 1–2 minutes, spooning it over the salmon to coat.
  3. If using the cornstarch slurry, stir it in now and simmer until thickened.

Step 4: Serve

  • Plate the salmon and drizzle with any remaining glaze.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, or lemon slices.
