Description

These Honey Lemon Pepper Wings are everything you crave in a wing: crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and coated in a sticky-sweet, lemony-peppery glaze that keeps you coming back for more. Whether you’re making them for game day, a casual get-together, or just a flavorful dinner, these wings are a showstopper.

The combination of bold lemon zest, fresh ground pepper, and warm honey gives these wings the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and zesty heat. You can bake, fry, or air-fry them—this recipe is versatile and always delicious. Serve them up with ranch, blue cheese, or just enjoy them as-is!

Ingredients

(Serves 4 – Makes about 20 wings)

For the Wings:

  • 2 lbs chicken wings (drumettes and flats)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (for crispiness)

For the Honey Lemon Pepper Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions

1. Prep the Wings:

Preheat oven to 400°F (or preheat air fryer to 390°F). Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture—this helps them get crispy.

2. Season:

In a large bowl, toss wings with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, lemon pepper seasoning, salt, pepper, and cornstarch until evenly coated.

3. Bake or Air Fry:

  • Oven Method:
Place wings on a wire rack over a baking sheet. Bake for 40–45 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
  • Air Fryer Method:
Place wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook at 390°F for 20–24 minutes, flipping halfway through.

4. Make the Sauce:

While the wings cook, melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in honey, lemon juice, lemon zest, and black pepper. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat.

5. Coat the Wings:

Transfer the cooked wings to a large bowl. Pour the honey lemon pepper sauce over and toss until the wings are fully coated and glossy.

6. Serve:

Serve immediately, garnished with extra lemon zest or chopped parsley if desired. Enjoy with ranch or blue cheese dressing!

Tips & Tricks

  • For extra crispy skin: Let the wings sit uncovered in the fridge for an hour before cooking to dry out the skin.
  • Want it spicier? Add hot sauce or extra chili flakes to the glaze.
  • Short on time? Use store-bought lemon pepper seasoning and bottled lemon juice, but fresh is always best!
  • Double the sauce if you like them extra sticky or are serving with rice or cornbread.

From Me to Your Readers

These Honey Lemon Pepper Wings are pure wing magic: bold, bright, and sticky in the best way. Whether baked or air-fried, they’re easy to make and packed with flavor. They also make a great addition to your “Game Day Snacks,” “Wing Night Recipes,” or “Easy Party Appetizers” category.

These wings are always a hit at gatherings — sweet enough for the kids, zesty enough for the adults, and lip-smacking good for everyone.
