Jammy Eggs with Chili Butter and Garlic Yogurt

Jammy Eggs with Chili Butter and Garlic Yogurt is a delightful dish that combines the creamy richness of soft-boiled eggs with the tangy zest of garlic-infused yogurt, all topped with a spicy chili butter drizzle. This recipe is inspired by the traditional Turkish dish known as Çılbır, offering a harmonious blend of flavors and textures that make for a satisfying breakfast or brunch option.

Ingredients

For the Garlic Yogurt:

  • 1 cup (240 grams) plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 clove garlic, finely grated
  • Salt, to taste

For the Jammy Eggs:

  • 4 large eggs

For the Chili Butter:

  • 1/4 cup (57 grams) unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt, to taste

To Serve:

  • Fresh dill or parsley, chopped
  • Crusty bread, toasted

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Garlic Yogurt:
    • In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt with the grated garlic and a pinch of salt. Mix well and set aside.
  2. Cook the Jammy Eggs:
    • Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil. Gently lower the eggs into the boiling water using a spoon.
    • Boil the eggs for 6 to 7 minutes for a jammy, slightly runny yolk.
    • Once done, transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water to halt the cooking process. Let them cool for a few minutes before peeling.
  3. Prepare the Chili Butter:
    • In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
    • Add the red pepper flakes, paprika, and a pinch of salt. Cook for a minute or until the spices become fragrant. Remove from heat.
  4. Assemble the Dish:
    • Spread the garlic yogurt evenly onto serving plates.
    • Place the peeled jammy eggs on top of the yogurt.
    • Drizzle the warm chili butter over the eggs and yogurt.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh dill or parsley.
    • Serve immediately with toasted crusty bread on the side.
