  • 10 large marshmallows, cut in half (or 20 mini marshmallows)

For the Topping:

  • 100g (¾ cup) semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted
  • Crushed candy canes, mini marshmallows, or chocolate shavings (optional, for decoration)

How to Make Marshmallow-Surprise Hot Cocoa Cookies

Step 1: Make the Cookie Dough

  1. In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Mix in egg and vanilla extract.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  5. Stir in melted chocolate until fully combined.
  6. Chill dough for 30 minutes (this helps prevent spreading).

Step 2: Shape and Bake

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
  2. Scoop 1.5 tbsp of dough and flatten slightly in your palm.
  3. Place a half marshmallow in the center and wrap the dough around it, sealing the edges.
  4. Place cookies on a lined baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  5. Let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
