Meaty Texas Trash Dip

May 21, 2025 by el hassan Leave a Comment

This hot, cheesy Meaty Texas Trash Dip is loaded with flavor and packed with beef, beans, cream cheese, and loads of melted cheese. It’s the ultimate party dip that disappears fast — perfect for game days, potlucks, and late-night snacking.

???? Description

If you’re looking for a hot, hearty dip that delivers big Tex-Mex flavor, this Meaty Texas Trash Dip is exactly what you need. It’s warm, melty, creamy, and loaded with ground beef, refried beans, cream cheese, sour cream, and mountains of gooey cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese.

This isn’t just a dip — it’s a meal in disguise! Whether you’re serving it for game day, movie night, tailgating, or potlucks, it’s guaranteed to be the first dish to disappear. Best part? It’s super easy to make ahead and can be reheated without losing any of its glorious cheesy goodness.

???? Ingredients (U.S. Standard Measurements)

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 (16 oz) can refried beans
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 (4 oz) can diced green chilies (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Optional toppings: chopped tomatoes, jalapeños, cilantro, black olives

???? Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or an oven-safe skillet.

2. Cook the Beef

In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess grease. Stir in taco seasoning and cook for another 1–2 minutes. Set aside.

3. Make the Creamy Base

In a large bowl, mix together refried beans, softened cream cheese, and sour cream until smooth and well blended. Stir in the cooked beef and green chilies (if using).

4. Layer the Dip

Spread the mixture evenly in your prepared baking dish. Top with shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese.

5. Bake

Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. For an extra golden top, broil for the last 2–3 minutes (watch closely!).

6. Garnish & Serve

Top with green onions and any additional toppings you like. Serve hot with tortilla chips, pita chips, or fresh veggies.

???? Variation (From Me!)

????️ Spicy Cowboy Trash Dip

Add ½ cup cooked chorizo or hot sausage to the ground beef mixture and a few dashes of hot sauce or chipotle powder to the bean base. Top with pepper jack cheese for a spicy twist that cowboys and spice lovers will devour.

???? Tips & Tricks

  • Make it ahead: Assemble and refrigerate up to 24 hours in advance. Bake just before serving.
  • Use a hand mixer for a super-smooth dip base.
  • Swap meats: Ground turkey or chorizo also work great.
  • Add corn or black beans for a more southwestern-style dip.
  • Leftovers? Use as filling for quesadillas, burritos, or nachos.
