Ingredients (Makes 10-12 servings)

For the Crust:

  • Chocolate sandwich cookies (Oreos) – 250g (about 24 cookies)
  • Unsalted butter, melted – 115g (½ cup)
  • Granulated sugar – 30g (2 tablespoons)

For the Filling:

  • Heavy cream – 240ml (1 cup)
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips – 170g (1 cup)
  • Granulated sugar – 100g (½ cup)
  • Cream cheese, softened – 225g (8 oz)
  • Vanilla extract – 2 teaspoons
  • Eggs – 2 large
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder – 30g (¼ cup)
  • All-purpose flour – 30g (2 tablespoons)
  • Salt – ¼ teaspoon

For the Whipped Cream Topping:

  • Heavy cream – 240ml (1 cup)
  • Powdered sugar – 30g (2 tablespoons)
  • Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust

  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F).
  2. In a food processor, pulse the chocolate sandwich cookies into fine crumbs.
  3. In a bowl, combine the cookie crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Stir until the mixture resembles wet sand.
  4. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie dish.
  5. Bake the crust for 8–10 minutes until set, then remove from the oven and let it cool completely.

2. Make the Chocolate Filling

  1. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
  2. Remove from the heat and add the chocolate chips. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Add the vanilla extract, eggs, unsweetened cocoa powder, flour, and salt to the cream cheese mixture. Beat until fully incorporated.
  5. Slowly fold in the melted chocolate mixture and continue mixing until smooth and well combined.
  6. Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled crust and spread it evenly.

3. Bake the Pie

  1. Place the pie in the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes. The center should be slightly set, but still a bit jiggly.
  2. Let the pie cool completely at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 3–4 hours or overnight to allow it to set fully.

4. Make the Whipped Cream Topping

  1. In a chilled mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  2. Spoon the whipped cream onto the cooled pie and spread it evenly.
  3. Garnish with additional chocolate shavings, chocolate sauce, or even chopped nuts if desired.

5. Serve & Enjoy

  1. Slice the pie and serve chilled. This pie is best enjoyed the same day but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Tips & Tricks for the Best Mississippi Mud Pie

✔ Use High-Quality Chocolate – The chocolate filling is the star of the show, so choose a good quality semi-sweet chocolate for the best flavor.

✔ Chill Before Serving – Let the pie chill in the fridge for at least 3–4 hours to ensure the filling sets properly and the flavors meld together.

✔ Customize the Topping – You can make your whipped cream topping extra special by adding cocoa powder or chocolate chips to the cream before whipping.

✔ Don’t Overbake – The filling should be slightly jiggly in the center when you remove the pie from the oven. Overbaking can lead to a dry filling.
