  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • Optional: steamed broccoli, shredded carrots, snap peas, or bell peppers

Instructions

1. Cook the Noodles

Cook noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

2. Brown the Beef

In a large skillet or wok, heat sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat if needed.

3. Make the Sauce

Add garlic and ginger to the beef and sautรฉ for 1โ€“2 minutes. Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce (if using), vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 3โ€“4 minutes.

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to make a slurry. Stir into the beef mixture and cook 2โ€“3 more minutes until thickened.

5. Add the Noodles

Add the cooked noodles and toss everything together until the noodles are well coated in the sauce. Add steamed vegetables if desired.

6. Garnish and Serve

Top with chopped green onions and serve hot. For extra heat, drizzle with sriracha or chili oil.

Tips & Tricks

  • For extra protein, add a fried or soft-boiled egg on top.
  • Swap ground beef for ground turkey, pork, or chicken.
  • Want more texture? Add toasted sesame seeds or crushed peanuts on top.
  • Use rice noodles or udon instead of spaghetti for a more authentic feel.
  • Make it spicy with extra chili flakes or sambal oelek.
