Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Creamy Garlic Sauce

If you love crispy chicken with loads of flavor and a luscious, restaurant-style sauce, this Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Creamy Garlic Sauce is a must-try. Juicy chicken breasts are coated in a Parmesan-panko crust, pan-fried to golden perfection, and served with a rich, buttery garlic cream sauce that takes the dish over the top.

It’s a show-stopping meal that feels fancy but is easy enough for a weeknight dinner — and it pairs beautifully with pasta, mashed potatoes, or veggies.


🛒 Ingredients

For the Parmesan Crusted Chicken:

  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts (sliced in half lengthwise to make 4 cutlets)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • ¾ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for pan-frying)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for extra crispness)

For the Creamy Garlic Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prep the chicken

Pound the chicken cutlets to even thickness (about ½ inch thick). Season both sides with salt and pepper.

2. Bread the chicken

Set up three shallow bowls:

  • Bowl 1: Flour
  • Bowl 2: Beaten eggs + 1 tbsp water
  • Bowl 3: Mix of panko, Parmesan, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning

Dredge each cutlet in flour (shake off excess), then dip in egg, then press into the Parmesan-panko mixture to coat both sides well.

3. Pan-fry the chicken

Heat olive oil (and butter if using) in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the chicken 3–4 minutes per side, until golden and crisp and internal temp reaches 165°F. Set aside on a plate tented with foil.

4. Make the garlic sauce

In the same pan, melt 2 tablespoons butter. Add garlic and sauté 1–2 minutes. Stir in flour and cook for 30 seconds. Whisk in chicken broth and heavy cream. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened. Stir in Parmesan, then season with salt and pepper to taste.

5. Serve

Plate the chicken and spoon the creamy garlic sauce over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
