Ingredients

  • 1 (18.25 oz) package yellow cake mix
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (16 oz) box powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Prepare the Crust:
    • In a large bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, 1 egg, and 1/2 cup melted butter. Mix well until a dough forms.
    • Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  3. Prepare the Filling:
    • In another large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
    • Add the remaining 2 eggs and vanilla extract; beat until well combined.
    • Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing thoroughly.
    • Slowly pour in the remaining 1/2 cup melted butter and mix until the filling is smooth and creamy.
  4. Assemble and Bake:
    • Pour the cream cheese filling over the crust in the baking pan, spreading it evenly.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes. The top should be golden brown, and the center should still be slightly gooey. Avoid overbaking to maintain the desired texture.
  5. Cool and Serve:
    • Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool completely in the pan.
    • Once cooled, cut into squares and serve.
