Philly Cheesesteak Pasta

January 8, 2025 by el hassan Leave a Comment

This Philly cheesesteak pasta combines all the flavors of a classic Philly sandwich with tender pasta. Packed with savory beef, sautéed peppers and onions, and a creamy cheese sauce, it’s the ultimate comfort food for weeknight dinners or a satisfying family meal.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz pasta (penne, rigatoni, or your choice)
  • 1 lb ground beef or thinly sliced steak (ribeye or sirloin)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded provolone cheese (or a mix of provolone and mozzarella)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta:
    • Boil pasta in a large pot of salted water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook the Beef:
    • In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef or sliced steak and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté Vegetables:
    • In the same skillet, heat the remaining olive oil. Add sliced peppers, onions, and garlic. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  4. Make the Sauce:
    • Return the beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Stir in beef broth, heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  5. Add the Cheese:
    • Reduce the heat to low and stir in shredded provolone and Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  6. Combine Everything:
    • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the cheese sauce. Cook for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  7. Serve:
    • Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese if desired.

Tips for the Best Philly Cheesesteak Pasta

  • Use quality cheese: Provolone melts beautifully and gives the dish its signature Philly flavor.
  • Make it spicy: Add red pepper flakes or jalapeños for a spicy twist.
  • Customize veggies: Add mushrooms or swap green peppers for red or yellow ones.
