This mouthwatering creation features a juicy beef patty infused with Italian herbs, topped with marinara sauce, melted mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni slices, all nestled within a toasted bun. Perfect for satisfying those dual cravings in a single, delectable bite.


Ingredients

For the Patties:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage (mild or hot, based on preference)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

For Assembly:

  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup marinara or pizza sauce, warmed
  • 12-16 slices pepperoni
  • 4 hamburger buns, toasted
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Patties:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian sausage, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  • Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty approximately 3/4-inch thick. For even cooking, press a slight indentation into the center of each patty with your thumb.

2. Cook the Patties:

  • Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  • During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of mozzarella cheese on each patty, allowing it to melt.

3. Assemble the Pizza Burgers:

  • Spread a tablespoon of warmed marinara sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun.
  • Place the cooked patties on top of the sauce.
  • Arrange 3-4 slices of pepperoni over the melted cheese on each patty.
  • Drizzle an additional tablespoon of marinara sauce over the pepperoni.
  • Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
  • Cap with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
