Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of thick-cut bread (such as sourdough or Italian)
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6-8 slices of pepperoni (or your preferred pizza toppings)
  • Optional: Grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning until well mixed.
  2. Butter the Bread: Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on one side of each bread slice.
  3. Assemble the Sandwich: Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, on a clean surface. Spread half of the marinara sauce on the unbuttered side. Layer half of the shredded mozzarella over the sauce, followed by the pepperoni slices. Add the remaining mozzarella on top of the pepperoni. Spread the remaining marinara sauce on the unbuttered side of the second bread slice, then place it on top of the sandwich, buttered side up.
  4. Grill the Sandwich: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the assembled sandwich into the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown. Flip the sandwich and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side, ensuring the bread is crispy and the cheese is fully melted.
