Slow Cooker Honey Glazed Ham Recipe

December 25, 2024 by el hassan Leave a Comment

This Slow Cooker Honey Glazed Ham is the ultimate hands-off holiday dish. With just a few ingredients and minimal prep, you can have a tender, flavorful ham that’s glazed to perfection. The sweet and savory honey glaze caramelizes beautifully as the ham cooks low and slow, infusing it with rich flavor. Whether you’re serving it for a holiday feast or a special dinner, this ham will surely impress!

Ingredients:

  • 1 (6-8 lb) bone-in ham (fully cooked)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar or orange juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ham:
    • Remove the ham from its packaging and pat it dry with paper towels.
    • Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern, making shallow cuts about 1/2-inch deep. This helps the glaze soak into the ham and creates a beautiful presentation.
  2. Make the Honey Glaze:
    • In a small saucepan, combine the honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar (or orange juice), cinnamon, cloves, and ginger.
    • Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves and the glaze thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Cook the Ham:
    • Place the ham in the slow cooker. Pour about 1/3 of the honey glaze over the ham, making sure to coat it evenly.
    • Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or until the ham is heated through and tender. (If you’re using a larger ham, it may take closer to 6 hours.)
  4. Baste the Ham:
    • Every hour, spoon some of the glaze from the bottom of the slow cooker over the ham to keep it moist and enhance the flavor.
  5. Finish the Ham:
    • Once the ham is cooked through and tender, transfer it to a serving platter. Pour the remaining glaze over the top and garnish with fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme, if desired.
    • Slice the ham and serve.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the ham with your favorite side dishes, and enjoy the sweet, savory flavor of the honey glaze!
