Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breast

May 22, 2025 by el hassan Leave a Comment

Juicy chicken breasts stuffed with a savory spinach and cheese filling — perfect for a healthy weeknight dinner or special occasion. This dish pairs beautifully with sides like roasted veggies or rice.

???? Description

Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breast is a flavorful and nutritious dish that takes simple chicken breasts to the next level. The tender chicken is stuffed with a creamy mixture of sautéed spinach, garlic, and cheese, then baked to juicy perfection.

This recipe is ideal for anyone looking for a high-protein meal with extra veggies, and it’s gluten-free and low-carb. Whether you’re cooking for family or guests, this dish will impress with minimal effort.

???? Ingredients (U.S. Standard Measurements)

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning (or mix of basil, oregano, thyme)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Toothpicks or kitchen twine to secure

???? Instructions

1. Prepare Filling

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.

Add chopped spinach and cook until wilted, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

In a bowl, mix cooked spinach and garlic with cream cheese, shredded cheese, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.

2. Prepare Chicken

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Using a sharp knife, carefully cut a pocket horizontally into each chicken breast, being careful not to slice all the way through.

3. Stuff Chicken

Fill each pocket with the spinach-cheese mixture. Secure the openings with toothpicks or kitchen twine.

4. Bake

Place stuffed chicken breasts in a greased baking dish. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F/74°C) and juices run clear.

5. Rest and Serve

Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving. Remove toothpicks/twine.

???? Variation (From Me!)

???? Bacon-Wrapped Spinach Stuffed Chicken

Wrap each stuffed breast with a slice of bacon before baking for extra smoky flavor and crispy texture.

???? Tips & Tricks

  • Use fresh spinach for best flavor and texture. Frozen can be used but drain well to avoid sogginess.
  • Don’t overfill the pockets to prevent filling from spilling out during baking.
  • If you don’t have cream cheese, ricotta or goat cheese work great as alternatives.
  • For added moisture, baste the chicken with its juices halfway through baking.
  • Letting the chicken rest after baking ensures juiciness.
