This Sticky Honey Chicken is the ultimate sweet and savory dish, featuring crispy, golden chicken coated in a rich, sticky honey glaze with hints of garlic, soy sauce, and a touch of spice. It’s quick, easy, and perfect for a weeknight dinner! Serve it with rice, noodles, or veggies for a delicious meal the whole family will love.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Chicken:

  • 500g (1 lb) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 60g (½ cup) cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Sticky Honey Sauce:

  • 120ml (½ cup) honey
  • 60ml (¼ cup) soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha or red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoons water (to thicken the sauce)

For Garnish:

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

Step 1: Prep and Cook the Chicken

  1. In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until evenly coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes, flipping occasionally, until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Step 2: Make the Sticky Honey Sauce

  1. In the same pan, add honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, ketchup, garlic, ginger, and sriracha. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  2. In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 2 tablespoons water to create a slurry.
  3. Stir the cornstarch slurry into the sauce and cook for 1-2 minutes, until the sauce thickens.

Step 3: Coat the Chicken

  1. Add the cooked chicken back to the pan, tossing it in the sauce until fully coated.
  2. Let it cook for another 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.

Step 4: Serve & Garnish

  1. Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  2. Serve immediately over steamed rice, noodles, or sautéed vegetables. Enjoy!

Tips for the Best Sticky Honey Chicken

✔ For extra crispy chicken – Use chicken thighs instead of breasts and double-fry for an extra crunch!
✔ Make it spicy – Add more sriracha or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
✔ Balance the sweetness – If you prefer less sweetness, reduce the honey slightly and add a squeeze of lime.
✔ Meal prep friendly – Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat in a pan for best texture.
